Original on-site reporting with additional content.
It has often been said that the "News" is an entertainment industry, with an added function of forming public opinion and that the News is not a public information service. At News1.net we try to present just the facts. and leave it to you decide what to believe and how to interpret the News.
A million plus people a month can't be wrong!

January 7, 2026 Merry Christmas to the almost one billion Orthodox Christians worldwide who celebrate Christmas using the early Julian Calender, rather than the Gregorian Callander.

January 6, 2026 This evening is Christmas Eve for millions of Orthodox Christians throughout the world, who celebrate Christmas using the Julian Calender, rather than the Gregorian Calender, instituted by Pope Gregory, that most of the world presently uses today.

January 5, 2026 Venezuela President Nicolas Maduro faced a judge today regarding the allegations put forth by the American Government of Mr. Maduro being a drug trafficker, among other charges. President Maduro told the court that he is still the president of Venezuela, and said that he was and still is being kidnapped and he further said that he is innocent of the charges and that he is a good person. The 91 year old American judge said that there will be plenty of time for him to mention these issues in the future.

January 4, 2026 Many countries around the world are criticizing President Trump's seizure of Venezuela President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, from their presidential palace in Venezuela. Some countries are demanding that the seized president and wife be returned to Venezuela

January 3, 2026 The United States military conducted a daring raid on Venezuela and has captured and taken into custody Venezuela president Nicolas Maduro and his wife and is bringing them back to the United States to face American Justice. President Maduro is alleged to be behind some type of drug export scheme. It should be noted that Venezuela is one of the largest producers of oil. Venezuela has not recognized Israel since 2007 and has been critical of the Israeli attack on Gaza.

January 1, 2026 A massive fire in a Swiss night club has killed over 40 New Years Eve celebrating patrons and injured over 100 people, including many with sever injuries.

January 1, 2026 The daycare system in Minneapolis, Minnesota has come under great scrutiny with some saying that massive taxpayer fraud, in the amount of over 4 to 7 billion dollars may be involved.

January 1, 2026 Mayor Mamdani has issued an executive order eliminating all of former Mayor Eric Adam's recent executive orders.

January 1, 2026 Mr. Zohran Mamdani has been sworn is as Mayor of New York City. Mr. Mamdani, who is a Muslim of Indian background, from a privileged family, was born in Angola, became a U.S. Citizen in 2017 and is a self declared Democratic Socialist. Mr. Mamdani has pushed many socialist ideas including heavy taxation of wealthier people, property confiscation through taxation, wealth redistribution from the haves to to have nots and similar ideas, that have not been successful in any other country. It should be noted that often the wealthier people tend to be the people who advance society and create the jobs, businesses and goods that everyone enjoys. Mr. Mamdani has stated that he is for transgender rights, transitioning for children, rent freezes, free busses, free daycare and other social causes. Mr. Mamdani seems to favor recent entries into the United States over the bulk of the citizens who created and made the country into the glowing gem that it is. In Mr. Mamdani's inaugural speech, he stated that he favors the "glow of collectivism over cold individualism". For the record, the USA was built by individual doers who created the industries and great country that it is today.

Happy New Year!

January 1, 2026 Happy New Year!

December 25, 2025 Merry Christmas to the almost two billion Christians who celebrate Christmas on December 25, using the Gregorian Calender. Christmas runs from the evening of December 24 to the Epiphany or Three Kings Day on January 4 or January 6 or January 7, depending on the Christian denomination.

December 13, 2025 SantaCon Starts today and runs till tomorrow throughout New York City. SantaCon is a relatively recent event (20 years old), whereby thousands and thousands of people dress like Santa Clause. The event is often marked by parties and heavy drinking.

December 11, 2025 A woman tourist from California was stabbed in the back and arm in Macy's Department Store on 34 Street by a homeless woman. She was rushed to the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

December 10, 2025 Starting next year, tourists entering into the United States will be required to provide information about all of their on line and social media activities going back 5 years.

December 10, 2025 The United States State Department has published for opinion a desire to take DNA samples from all visitors to the United States. This would include those who are simply in the United States to catch a connecting flight to another destination. Often foreign countries copy American directives and it is highly probable that other countries will start doing the same including taking DNA samples from Americans. Foreign counties often share their information with other countries, including the United States. Many people have already expressed that taking DNA samples from citizens or anyone is an invasion of privacy. Further, it is not clear what will happen to the DNA information. For example, will it be sold or given freely to private companies such as insurance companies? In the future, will Americans be required to give DNA samples to get a passport or a federal ID card? Will providing a DNA sample become standard policy by companies in order to get a job? Many questions and concerns surround this very possible new policy.

Opinion

According to Mark Twain (Samuel Clemens), if you do not read the news, you will be uninformed, but if you do read the news, you will be misinformed.

"The government that governs best, governs least"-- Thomas Jefferson, third president and an original founding father of the United States.

From the right, Frank Didik, Chairman of News1.net, Dr. Eric Bitterman, Chairman of Deutche Welle, Dr. Jachem Reppmann, and publisher Walter at the Von Steuben formal event in New York City. Though Frank Didik does not have any German background, he enjoys the inginuety and drive of the German people.

Time to start enforcing the laws covering motorcycles, powered bicycles and powered scooters:
thm_news10005820.jpgthm_news10005821.jpgthm_news10005818.jpg
The laws covering motor vehicles (gas, steam, electric), must be enforced including having proper registration, insurance and make sure that the driver has a proper drivers license and skill to drive the motorcycle. NYC has become like the wild west. Here we see unregistered, uninsured, motorcycles and their unlicensed riders, using the bicycle lane over the Manhattan Bridge. Electric scooters are extremely dangerous but are very popular. They really are unlicensed, unregistered motorcycles. Originally the State of New York, Vehicle Traffic and Safety Laws permitted human/motorized hybrid vehicles, primarily wheelchairs, for disabled people, including veterans after the Vietnam war. But now the rule is completely abused. It is time to license and insure bicycles and electric assist, human powered vehicles.

Helicopters It is time to reconsider private helicopters flying into and out of Manhattan and certain areas of Brooklyn, Queens, The Bronx and Staten Island. The take off and fly over noise of these aircraft often disrupts the entire community. This is clearly apparent in communities such as Brooklyn Heights, Dumbo, Brooklyn Bridge Park and elsewhere. Why should the convenience of a few, disrupt the lives of an entire community?

DNA to enter the USA? What is happening to this country? Is it a country of the people, by the people and for the people? Extra judicial killings, without an indictment, trial by ones peers? Has the USA become a dictatorship? The USA was for over 200 years, the symbol of freedom and justice. Have we lost this?

The United States State Department has published for opinion a desire to take DNA samples from all visitors to the United States. This would include those who are simply in the United States to catch a connecting flight to another destination. Often foreign countries copy American directives and it is highly probable that other countries will start doing the same including taking DNA samples from Americans. Will providing a DNA sample become standard policy by companies in order to get a job? Many questions and concerns surround this very possible new policy. What is happening to this country?

Freedom of the Press
Recent public disclosures have indicated that the United States government, operating under the federal agency USAID, has been giving funds to as many as 7,000 journalists and hundreds of news outlets across the globe, including in the United States. Published reports indicate that the BBC receives millions of dollars per year from USAID, amounting to over 8% of their budget. Further, it is alleged that the New York Times, among others, have also received millions of dollars from USAID. The problem of government arbitrarily giving money to news outlets is the potential to manipulate the news and to influence foreigners and American's alike. If it turns out that this funding is accurate, this amounts to creating the news narrative and the potential for the the readers to be steered or influenced to the governments perspective. News1.net is 100% opposed to government manipulation of the press and we have never, nor will we ever accept government payoffs. We are for a free press.

AI will kill innovation If people begin to completely rely on "Artificial Intelligence" or ÄI", and not rely on their own intelligence and intuition, society will stagnate and not move ahead. People will not innovate and create new ideas, technologies and inventions. To rely on AI will bring society to a new non innovative dark ages with a stagnated society.

Is it any wonder why Mr. Zohran Mamdani has won the NYC mayoral election? Mr. Mamdani is a handsome, well spoken, clean cut individual and has promised the struggling people hope for the future. The collapse in the standard of living in the United States has been massive over the past 60 years. In 1963, the average man with a high school diploma at age 39 could afford a wife who did not work, a house in the suburbs, a car for himself and a car for his wife, three or four children and have enough money left over for a family vacation or perhaps a cabin in the country or a boat. Today, two highly educated people with advanced college degrees, can perhaps afford a one or two bedroom apartment, one child, no cars and both people must work. Further, many people with college degrees are burdened by student debt, can not find jobs or often work in jobs below their educational level, such as grocery stores, coffee shops and similar basic work. Often people in their mid 30's live in shared apartments and have barely enough money to make ends meet. Mr. Mamdani has said things that most young people wanted to hear such as free buses, a freeze in rent and much more. Of course this shifts the cost to established blue collar workers and the middle class. It remains to be seen if Mr. Mamdani's vision will be successful.

Against all odds, Mr. Zohran Mamdani has won the NYC mayoral election by a majority of 50.4% of the voters. Mr. Mamdani is a Democratic Socialist and has promised free buses, free child day care, to freeze the rents, encourage and protect trans-gender individuals and to increase the taxes of "wealthy people "to pay for his proposed programs, which could amount to billions of dollars. These proposals by Mr. Mamdani is very appealing to struggling young people who are burdened by high student debt, unaffordable housing and the sense that they do not have much of a future. On the other hand, many middle class people feel that an increased tax burden will fall upon them to pay for what they perceive as a wealth redistribution to help, as they see it, less productive people. Mr. Mamdani has also stated that he wants to increase real estate taxes on properties in some areas that have gone up in value, but may have been bought years ago by blue collar and middle class people. Mr. Mamdani has also declared solidarity with the Palestinians in Gaza for their ordeal under constant Israeli bombardment. This has angered some Jewish people, however it would seem that many Jewish voters voted for Mr. Mamdani. Mr. Mamdani is 34 years old and is the second youngest person to be elected mayor of New York City.

Subway barriers: New York, NY January 21, 2022 With falling and being pushed onto the subway tracks becoming a daily occurrence, it is time to promptly install subway barriers / gates on all 480 subway and elevated stations. Frank Didik, who has been desperately pushing subway gates to the MTA and other agencies since over a decade points out that hundreds of people could have been saved over this period of time. Further, thousands of people could have been spared hideous, life transforming injuries, including by MTA workers. Further, the MTA could have avoided paying out hundreds of millions of dollars in liability, that could have already paid for the entire subway gate system.

Time to Rethink Bike Lanes
Advice for bicyle based cities
 - August 3, 2016 read more

Congestion Pricing favors the upper income people and has reduced local business, while pushing middle class drivers to shop elsewhere that does not have this burdensome tax. Ultimately this will work against the city. New York City has 25% less cars than ten years ago. This is partly do to a decline in real income but also because bike lanes, which are under-utilized in the winter and bad weather, has made driving in NYC slower because of the reduced number of lanes. The sensors that bill vehicles, are only at the entrance points in Manhattan and thus can only bill incoming cars, not cars already in Manhattan. Thus, presently, only outsiders will be billed for tolls. New York City is ONE CITY, consisting of Manhattan (Borough of New York), Brooklyn (Kings), Queens, Staten Island (Richmond) and the Bronx. Shouldn't every New Yorker have free access to all parts of the city? Didn't the unification of Brooklyn with Manhattan in 1897 specify this as being one city?

It is time for the New York City to take action to control bicycles Lets face it, the quality of life in New York City is suffering from bicycles, electric powered bikes and scooters. The riders feel that they are above the law or don't even know the law. These vehicle almost without exception, never obey traffic laws, go through red lights and even go through crosswalks while people are crossing. It is time to start requiring all bicycles to have registration, and clearly visible license plates, and insurance. If cars and trucks have to "share the road" with bicycles, bicycles must also pay their fair share and obey the law. read more

thm_news10005822.jpg
Share the road: This NYC sign says "Share the road". Good idea! Perhaps it is time for bicycle riders to obey traffic laws and also pay a road tax, just as the car drivers have to do. Indeed, share the road!

Vision Zero is without vision. Is the well intended Vision Zero New York City program started under former Mayor DeBlasio to reduce pedestrian deaths from vehicles working? Some of the actions taken was to reduce the speed limit in NYC from 30 miles per hour to only 25 miles per hour. In addition, when the cross walk light says walk, the traffic light for cars changes a few seconds later, allowing pedestrians to start to cross before cars start. In some areas, there has also been guides put on streets so that cars must make a larger diameter turn. Has these measures work? Actually these measures have not helped at all. Our speculation as to why these measures have not worked are as follows. The crossing pedestrians have come to take it for granted that the cars will always allow them to cross and unfortunately, the pedestrians do not look both ways. Further, many pedestrians are oblivious to their surroundings because they are staring at their smart phones and do not take a moment to carefully look to see if all is clear to cross and also many pedestrians wear ear buds playing music or talking on the phone that further reduces their attention to traffic. It should be noted that many years ago, the brother of this writer was hit and killed by a car.

Sunglasses Dangerous?
Sunglasses reduces reaction time, since it takes longer for the brain to process a darker image then a well lit image. This could lead to potentially dangerous situations. Some early Stereo 3D systems used a dark glass and a lighter glass for two different eyes to achieve the 3D effect, though polarized glasses are more common. Tinted windows in cars also increase reaction time of the drivers.

Digital Currency will represent a loss of freedom and privacy. Digital Currency will mean the total control of your money by the government. Thus what you (are permitted to) buy will be under the complete control of the government. Further, everything you do and buy will be known to the government and anyone who has access to this information. Thus everything that you buy or sell or are permitted to buy or sell will be known and potentially controlled. -April 11, 2023
